Fish n Chips n Beer!

Craft-Beer-Battered-Fish-n-Chips-1024x696 I realize I don’t tend to post anything on the weekends and then looking through my feed, I realize hardly anyone really posts on the weekend. Is that a blog thing? Just kidding, I am pretty sure it’s because our lives are just so busy on the weekends! Well okay, I can’t say much about YOURS but my weekends definitely have been. It’s a good thing though! I’m enjoying keeping busy and these are events I decide to participate in so it’s not like I am forced to be so busy. But anyway, this past weekend I went to my town’s local festival, Port Fish Day. I no longer live there but I make it a tradition to participate in the festivities still and it is where all my friends are. It was a great time. Fish Day is a big festival/ fish fry downtown. It’s just like any local fair with tons of food, drinks, music, rides, and games. It was definitely a good time. But that good time may have been influenced by my beer drinking but hey, it’s my first LEGAL age to drink! I have to take advantage of that at festivities like this. fishday-sign Fish n Chips with a side of multiple cups of cold crisp Beer. Just what I needed for a Saturday. Not to mention, the weather was AMAZING. I also made a great purchase this weekend! No, not something stupid that I don’t need and just waste money on like I usually do…. I bought a good amount of running/workout attire! Like I have mentioned in previous posts, I am trying to get into running and become more active and healthy that way. I bought a couple cute running outfits and a pair of running shoes. FINALLY. I had absolutely no good clothes or shoes to workout or run in. One step at a time. Capture I didn’t manage to get any jewelry crafting done this past weekend but I guess there is always time later for that… Sometimes I just need more than 24 hours in a day. Okay, MOST of the time I need more than 24 hours. It’s crazy how much times goes by before you realize you really don’t have time to get the rest of the stuff done that you wanted to for the day. I have all these goals and things I want to do but the process seems a little slowed down. Maybe I should cut back on sleep? I mean… I pretty much have been having troubles sleeping lately anyway. Less sleep, more coffee. That may work…. Or maybe it’s just me? Maybe I am the one who is just too slow at doing things. I do tend to get sidetracked a lot. BUT, besides all the mumble, I am trying to get more and more stuff done each day and continue to work on better routines and systems for myself. We’ll see how all this hecticness (is that a word?) goes. How do you juggle multiple tasks each day?

One Post a Day Keeps Me Mentally Sane

So I don’t know if it’s just me, but when I go a day without posting at least something on my blog, I go crazy on the inside. I feel like I neglected my role as a blogger even though it does not say that in order to blog, you have to make at least one post everyday. It is really strange of me! Like I literally waste most of my day just trying to come up with something to post about. I think lately I have just been rambling but you know what? That’s okay because you loyal followers still stick by me I see and that’s what matters! So yeah, I don’t know if it’s just a busy schedule for me or I have writer’s block but I am like itching to come up with more post ideas and it is very hard right now. Maybe I am thinking too hard? Or maybe my mind wanders too much and I can’t stay focused on just one damn post idea and stick with it! Yeah… I think that’s it. But anyway, I will soon make a good comeback with great posts. I have faith in my little brain up there. I think I lost grip on what direction I wanted my blog to go but it’s been going and as long as I still make at least SOME great posts, I’m happy.

Well that’s enough rambling for now… In the meantime, enjoy these couple small practice rounds of wire jewelry making I attempted last night 🙂

(And yes, I did use my new fancy camera)

Party Planning Blog

Good morning lovely blog followers and newcomers 🙂

I would just like to quickly share that I started another blog on my profile strictly focusing on my interest in party planning. It will be a blog of mostly pictures illustrating some neat tips, tricks, and ideas to use when planning a party.

Many posts will be made on a daily basis because I have collected so many things for party planning over the past year or so. The blog was just created yesterday so I am still playing around with it and it’s theme and layout. There are a few posts already however.

Don’t be afraid to go take a look at it and follow and let me know what you think 🙂

Blogging is the Way to Channel Ideas

I just spoke to another blogger that was interested in being interviewed for my blog. Below are the questions I asked and their responses. Great interview, great blogger. Take a look at their blog!  http://theidleeuropean.wordpress.com/

1.      What do you personally think are the benefits or best reasons for blogging?
Blogging is a great way to let off some steam. I began blogging because I was suffering from insomnia. I had so many ideas for articles and papers that I was unable to switch it off during the night. I had to channel it somewhere and blogging was the way to go. The fact that it might also improve my writing skills was a great bonus.

2.      What do you think attracts a reader to read a blog post?
What the reader first sees is the title (and possibly the featured image). It’s therefore vital to pick a good title that catches the reader’s attention and suits the purpose of the text. It would be even better if you had a picture as an eye-catcher. Naturally you must also find the correct audience for your post by appropriate tagging. Depending on the type of the post and the demographic you are reaching out for, your register and style should also be adjusted accordingly.

3.      Do you free willingly write from whatever comes to mind or do you take a long processing time to think long and hard about what to say in a post?
I like to take my time in polishing the text to make sure I won’t blow the thing out proportion. Yet the last post I wrote (The Cornetto Trilogy) was written in one sitting. It’s not something I usually do, but in that case it suited the occasion. I don’t like to improvise unless the matter at hand happens to be exceptionally easy.

4.      How long do you usually take on one post?
The writing process itself usually takes about 2-3 days. However the time I spend pondering the subject can be anything from a couple of weeks to several months.

5.      Where do you get your topics that you write about?
They can come from everywhere really. From media, friends, pop culture, internet… I simply build an opinion on a subject, play with it for a while and then narrow it to fit in the frames of a 400-800 word essay.

6.      What do you find most exciting about blogging?
The interactivity. I like to be able to comment, raise new topics into conversation. It encourages people to read and share thoughts, which is something I highly value.

7.      Do you handle constructive criticism well?
Yes, definitely. Comments are the most precious gifts a reader can give to the author because they are the proof of someone actually having had read and given thought to the message you want to convey. Everyone’s welcome to argue with me.

8.      How do you promote traffic to your blog?
I don’t think I really promote much traffic to my blog actually. I like to read the posts of others and comment whenever I can, which sometimes seems to be able to attract people to my blog. It’s pretty ineffective but less laborious than writing a post everyday.

9.      Do you have any favorite blog topics you like to read about from other bloggers?
Unfortunately I’m not too interested in the lives of others, which narrows the selection quite a bit. I’m currently seeking for opinionated blogs that discuss various topics. If anyone has a blog to recommend that suits the profile, come give me a nudge.

10.  Did you just go straight into blogging when you first got started or did you do some research for tips on how to get started?
I had a couple of friends who had had some pretty successful blogs on sport and veganism and I did ask for some advice after the registration at WordPress. They recommended many of the things discussed before (accurate tagging, featured image) and also choosing a theme that works for the purpose of your blog and having a singular, clear topic to focus on. I admit to having ignored some of that precious advice for I discuss several topics in the forms of essays. But after all, that’s what I wanted to write.

I want to interview YOU!

you

Yes, you! I would like to interview any fellow bloggers who are interested not only in answering some questions in regards to your blogging experience, but also as a way to promote your blog. So here is what I would like to do…. I have a set of questions I’m interested in hearing from other bloggers in order to get more of an insight of the blogging world and maybe a few tips and tricks you have learned when it comes to blogging. In return, your blog will be promoted on mine. A post will be dedicated to your answers as well as a link to your blog. If you would like to include something else with it as well, you would just have to let me know!

If you are interested in this, please feel free to comment below with your email address or a way of contacting you with the questions OR feel free to email me at my personal blogging email address: releasethemind@outlook.com!

Hope to hear from a lot of you 🙂
