Managing Two Jobs in Your Twenties…

Hey guys! I am pretty stoked right now with a mix of nervousness and maybe a little bit of worry! I applied for a second job as bartender and not only did I get a call back within a couple days, I went in for the interview the next day, got hired on the spot, had an orientation that same day and now start my first night of training tonight! You are now officially looking at an Applebee’s bartender ๐Ÿ™‚

Which did require me to quickly take my bartending course online (a good ‘ol two hours) and submit my application for my bartending license. I am pretty excited because I did enjoy the minor bartending I used to do and had fun expressing my knowledge of making drinks and talking to customers. And the good tips of course! ๐Ÿ˜‰

But I have also been a little nervous about maintaining two jobs… I have faith I can do it but I just hope it doesn’t get too much for me. I have my main full time Monday-Friday 8-5 job and now I picked up this one for the weekends which will require me to work every day of the week a lot of the time with some exceptions here and there. I think of it as, at least these two jobs aren’t really too much of hard physical labor which would be plenty good for my body.

So I guess I have been trying to think more positively about this as much as I can.

1) Extra cash
2) Not hard labor
3) If I do feel I can’t handle it, I could always quit and still have my main job
4)I will still have some free time during the week
5) I’ll have awesome bartending skills ๐Ÿ™‚

Are there any other bartenders out there that can provide me with some tips? Or anyone who is currently working 2+ jobs, how do you handle it?

Quench that Thirst

Besides a tummy growling of hunger, you know what else is a terrible feeling? A dry mouth of thirst! Seriously though… it is just awful. Maybe it’s just the summer weather or me being more active but I’ve been stocking up on liquids like crazy. I know water is the best thing to drink when thirsty but who likes sticking with boring tasteless water all the time? Definitely not me. I still get my recommended (okay, not completely) amount of water each day but what about that thirst you crave for something maybe fruity? Flavorful? Different?

Well here’s something new and different to try! It may be one of the most simple flavorful drinks to make and can be made how you want with flavors you like!

Italian Soda!ย

You will need…

  • Flavored syrups
  • Mineral water
  • Ice
  • Whip Cream
  • Straws

Now ready for the simple putting it together part?

All you do is grab your cup, fill it with ice, your flavor choice of syrup, mineral water, and top it off with whip cream! Throw that straw in there and drink away! Each ingredient can be added as much as you like to your taste.

Not only does it look amazingly yummy but it is very delicious! And for the added adult feature, you can always put in a bit of booze of your choice ๐Ÿ˜‰

Definitely a hit and kid friendly without the booze though! And it makes for a great Italian soda bar where people can help their selves to flavors and everything they like.

Not sure of some good syrup flavors? (Torani is a great brand to use) Here you go…

  • Strawberry
  • Raspberry
  • Pomegranate
  • Orange
  • Cherry
  • Cherry-Lime
  • Mango
  • Watermelon
  • Apple
  • Blackberry
  • Lime

Add a cute little straw to your drink for a cute little drink look!

Now go make an Italian soda and let me know what you think ๐Ÿ™‚
